 Our Philosophy

Hello and welcome!

We are both relationally-trained Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists who work with individuals, couples, and families. We help our clients to improve their relationships, heal from traumatic experiences, and increase confidence to achieve their personal goals and improve overall life satisfaction. A relational or systemic therapeutic approach means that in addition to helping you to explore and gain understanding of your life as an individual person, we will help you to consider your life in connection to your close others, family members, friends, co-workers, etc., and to your experiences as they relate to the challenges of society and its influences.

We are both gender affirming Safe Space providers for the LGBTQIA+ community.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Elon University in North Carolina and completed my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Valdosta University in Georgia.

With a gentle, collaborative approach, I incorporate therapeutic techniques from Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I adjust my technique based on each client's unique story and goals for therapy.

In therapy, you can choose to focus more on learning coping skills or taking specific steps toward addressing issues in the present-day, or you can dive deep into how your experiences throughout your life beginning in childhood may continue to affect your life today.  I provide talk-therapy approaches, but if you prefer not to speak much out loud about your traumatic experiences, I can also provide Accelerated Resolution Therapy to target specific somatic (physical) symptoms such as anxiety and post-traumatic stress.

I am especially passionate about helping couples to repair and strengthen their relationship by utilizing techniques from evidence-based practices such as Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy and the Gottman Method. These techniques help get to the heart of the matter to increase relationship satisfaction and heal emotional injuries that may have occurred throughout the relationship or as a result of previous trauma.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Georgia and completed my Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Valdosta University in Georgia.

I am specialized in addiction and trauma recovery and believe in utilizing the client's own sense of Self in a creative and 'always new' perspective to establish a sense of purposeful adventure and meaningful exploration during sessions. I will work with you to understand and change deeply-rooted beliefs arising from early trauma resulting in suppressed and repressed emotions and memories. I am trained in EMDR, a technique for treating trauma that can help unlock and process emotions that are often not accessible through traditional talk therapy. I will work with you to incorporate new revelations and changes into life in a functional way.

I emphasize joining and collaborative connection, and will accompany clients and families through the high places and the low. I employ a wide range of therapeutic approaches to problems, including  Narrative Therapy, Collaborative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Family Systems, psychodynamics, a trauma-informed lens, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) among many others.

Together, we will explore your past, present and future in order to discover the New and unearth the Old in different and informative ways. I look forward to joining you on this part of your journey.
